Julie's Story
Julie is a Perth artist who lives with her family and works in her home studio.
She grew up in Sydney and had always wanted to venture into fine art, however it wasn’t until she completed a Bachelor of Arts in visual arts at Sydney College of the Arts that her art journey began. Julie also went on to complete a Graduate Diploma of Education at Sydney Teachers College.
In 2003, she joined the West Australian pastels society, discovering her passion for the medium. Her skills have also developed in oils, in which she paints and teaches with daily. Although Julie doesn’t see it as teaching, as much as it is sharing – of her life, passion and her workspace, which is an intimate home studio that welcomes and cultivates creatives alike.
Julie is strong on passion and spirit to recognise challenge and having the strength to do it. She endeavours to capture stories and to reflect that in her portraits and to celebrate the beauty in creation.
Artistic Work
Julie is a realist artist, depicting moments in time with fine detail – from personal portraits, expressions and moods to still life, landscapes and florals (especially portraying the delicacy of colour and texture in roses). Capturing light and the many colours that light and shadows display are a constant source of inspiration for her. As previously mentioned, her dominant mediums are pastel, oil and gouache.
Julie is available on a commission basis and will also be conducting smaller and more private classes in the northern suburbs. She welcomes enquiries (via the commission/contact pages).
